Cupping notes: Milk Chocolate, Lemon, Raw Sugar, Bright
Processing method: Washed (wet process)
We at Sugar Creek love coffees from Eastern Africa! Kenya consistently produces some of the best in the world, and this delicious lot does not disappoint! As a light roast, this coffee has pronounced citrus brightness with a delightful, lingering aftertaste like lemonade. The body of the cup is impressive, with a solid, smooth base of cocoa and almonds. There is also a complex sweetness present that is reminiscent of raw sugar or dried dates. Medium roasting mutes the acidity, toning down the citrus character and augmenting body and notes of dark chocolate.
We love this coffee as a light roast where its complexity and balance are truly special. It is easily workable with any brew method. While we normally recommend medium roasts for espresso brewing, this Kenya makes for one of the best light-roasted espressos we have ever tasted. The shots are viscous, sweet, and just a little on the wild side.
At Sugar Creek Coffee Roasters, we specialize in hand crafted, small batch, artisanal roasted coffee. While other roasters typically pre-roast and have beans on the shelf, we don't roast until you place your order, so you can be assured the freshest roasted coffee is delivered to your door. Each coffee order is roasted to the optimal flavor of the coffee bean you order.
